How many people do you know who are not content with their lives? Why is an attitude of gratitude necessary?
How about being happy with your life? These days, more than ever, it seems that most people are not happy with their lives.
This is not really a surprise, as there is a constant bombardment of messages telling us that we could do so much better.
You must have seen these messages: “you do not have a suitable body”, “you need to be much thinner or thinner”, “you need to earn much more money to be able to be someone in life”, “you need to change your appearance with plastic surgery” and the list goes on.
Social media is a great thing, as it allows us to communicate and make new friends all over the world.
But it also contains images of a perfect life.
There are many pictures of people who have perfect bodies or perfect couples.
You will also find pictures of people who have expensive houses and cars.
But here is a very important question: are these people really happy?
You’ll never be happy if you always want something.
We’ve all been through this.
We tell ourselves “if I had this person or thing in my life, I would be really happy.”
And then what happens, you get what you want and you start wanting something more!
You will never be truly happy if you think like this.
What you are doing here is creating things that are missing in your life.
These are holes in your life that, unless you fill them, you cannot be happy.
The world will never stop telling you that you need to improve your life in some way.
That’s how commerce works.
So there will always be that shiny new object that can change you from a state of happiness to one of discontent.
So what’s the answer?
Appreciate what you have Happiness is a state of mind and the way you think about your life will determine whether you will be happy most of the time or not.
If your neighbor just got a new car and you don’t have the money to buy a new car, does this make you poorer? In some people’s minds yes.
But this is ridiculous. You are not poor, you just think this is the case.
The answer to this type of thinking is to be truly grateful for what you have in your life right now.
Think about the people and things you have.
You have an old car, but you drive it to work every day and it provides transportation for the whole family.
Be thankful that you have this.
You have a wonderful partner and a family you wouldn’t trade for anything in the world, so be thankful for this too.
You live in a comfortable home and have a roof over your head to protect you from the harsh winters.
It doesn’t matter that it’s not the perfect shape or that it’s not decorated the way you want it to be.
Be thankful for your home and the warmth and protection it provides.
